In this story, I am going to show you how you can make $500 with email marketing! It is simply by creating and sending a small email marketing campaign so let’s get right into it.

Our Email Marketing Campaign

In our case, we created a small test campaign using the MailWizz email marketing system. The goal was to promote our Udemy courses. The email marketing campaign that we launched got around a 5% conversion rate which means $500 in a couple of hours. We sent around 1000 emails and got around 413 open emails which are around 40%. We also got around 114 clicks which is around a 10% click rate. This means around 50 conversions. So with only 1000 emails, we made around $500.

1. The Email Marketing System

The email marketing system used is MailWizz. As for the SMTP service, we used Amazon SES. It is a very good SMTP service since it is very cheap. 1000 emails cost only $0.1.

2. The Message Template

The message template or the message itself should be very simple. You don’t even need any images or any HTML templates. In our case, we only included our logo, a simple text message, and a simple button where it takes the person directly to discount links. Whenever you want to send an email marketing campaign, try your best to be as simple as you can and direct to the point. Make sure to put in a button so that the person has a clear way to reach your landing page or website link.

Another important note is your domain or IP. If it is blacklisted or anything like that, you can use a URL shortener or a URL Cloaker to mask your URL. This way you can also monitor the links.

3. Bounce Email Rate

Make sure you have an almost zero percent bounce rate. You can achieve this simply by email validation. In our case, we have our free email validation software which enabled us to achieve a 0.6 bounce rate. But, if you want a premium email validation service, you can use DeBounce which is very cheap and recommended. So make sure to validate all your emails and have an almost zero percent bounce rate before you send any campaign. If you have a high bounce rate, your email marketing campaign will fail and you will be blacklisted.

4. Landing Email in Inbox and Not in Spam

You need to know if your emails will go to spam or to your inbox before you send any campaign. For that, you need to test delivery which is very important. You can use services like MailTester, Glass, BlockApps, or Postmark API to test your sending score. This way you will be able to see if your emails will land in the inbox or in spam. If your emails are spam emails, your campaign will fail.

5. Simple and Direct Landing Page

Use a simple and direct landing page so that after the user clicks on this link they will be redirected to the landing page. In our case, we created a dedicated landing page on our website for the discount for this campaign. We also put in a timer that somehow stimulates the user to click on these links. These links will give the user direct access to our Udemy courses. So use a simple and direct landing page with a small stimulator to ensure that users will click on these links and go and buy your services.
